Commonly dermatological problems in children our Eczema, warts, fungal infections MCs (Molluscum Contagium), birth marks and auto-immune disorder.
Non Invasive Paediatric Care
Dermatologists should be sensitive to any patients needs, although for the reasons above, a paediatric dermatologist needs a unique approach. Their skin may be similar in a medical sense but children and adults are not the same.
Helping children gain confidence matters, to deal with their skin condition in a positive way. The approach of a good children’s dermatologist encourages this, alongside their choices on diagnosis and treatment.
Our dermatologists focus on non invasive investigation and on understanding how children feel about the care they are receiving. Part of promoting confidence and belief, an ethos supported by state of the art equipment.
They may use a digital, confocal, microscope, in preference to a biopsy, or finely targeted laser treatment instead of a scalpel. Dermatologists should appreciate that what seems minor inconvenience to an adult is not to a child.

Children’s Dermatological Conditions
Infectious childhood diseases include measles, chickenpox, impetigo, ringworm. Many reach beyond the skin, although evidence there provides a good route for diagnosis.
Other rashes can have viral causes, or come through toxins, allergic reaction, drugs. In rarer cases, autoimmune disease, or an animal borne infection.
Too much time in the sun can cause problems, now, or long in the future. You may wish to see a video young children will appreciate on staying safe in the sun, along with tips for all ages. Skin cancer is rare in children but the seeds can be sown.
Hives, or urticaria, is more common, generally from an allergic reaction. Eczema is another prevalent issue, which may vanish from a child’s life as they grow but not always. Paediatric dermatologists also treat psoriasis, by no means solely an adult disease.
Acne is for later years and almost inescapable for teenagers. For a few, this can be serious and deserve dedicated acne treatment, to prevent current misery, or future scarring.
A similar principle applies in most areas. The key to children’s dermatology in our clinics is to separate natural parts of childhood, from more concerning conditions. Whether through sudden onset, or longer term, such as birthmarks, or pigmentation issues.
Diagnosis & Treatment
Early, accurate diagnosis has a dual benefit. Children and their parents often have less to worry about, in cases where there is a serious condition, prompt treatment is often the best treatment.
Skin Care Network is unusual in the private sector. Our dermatologists have all been trained to diagnose and treat children, we have the policies and expert care in place, to ensure their skin problems can be properly addressed.
Neither is diagnosis limited due to age. Alongside experience, the latest equipment and our in house laboratory play a part for children, as well as adults. Skilled paediatric dermatologists can adjust options to suit children, such as allergy patch testing.
Treatment naturally depends on diagnosis. In many cases, avoidance of potential irritants can help, or safe, common medication, such as antihistamines. Where more complex support is needed, this is readily available.
Children’s dermatology in Pakistan is an integral part of our service. Every child will be seen by a consultant dermatologist and offered all the support they need. For complex issues, or for reassuring care and a speedy recovery.
